PJ (they/he) is a fat, trans, and queer multidisciplinary artist from Cardiff, Wales, who now resides in Canada. His current practice engages with visualizations of queer & trans identities, disabled & fat bodies, memory, lived experiences, and one’s connection to self and others. Using bold, vivid colours, expressive content, and surrealistic imagery,  he connects with viewers about themselves and how they perceive others. Through their practice, he seeks to challenge perspectives on what is ‘normal’, evoke emotional reactions, and provide a sense of belonging. Matheson has always admired the strange and whimsical aspects of life and enjoys embracing those sides through artistic endeavours.
