JAMES BOYLE

James Boyle’s work engages with ideas of existence, ephemerality, consciousness, and mortality while showcasing his playful disposition and sense of humour. He wrestles with these heavier topics in a light-hearted manner by blurring the lines between painting and sculpture and leaning into his robust, illustrative and cartoonish style. Boyle casts each individual as the protagonist of their own story; while exploring questions of desire, romance, finding purpose, human nature, self-actualizing quests, and how our lives unfold and intertwine, with time eventually sweeping us away.
