O. Bjorn Cross’ work is a memorial to queer ancestors, a shrine to sensation, and a reliquary to fetish. Each piece serves as a calculated mourning of Manhood and an exploration of the fragile nature of history and identity. Through objects, text, images, and installations, he creates containers that hold the weight of memory and desire, offering spaces where the past and present coexist and inform one another.

Originally immersed in a self-constructed fantasy world of 1970s San Francisco and 80s New York, his art was born from a longing for the queer world he sought to enter. Initially he believed that these queer histories had vanished, however Cross came to see these legacies as enduring, thriving in specific moments, places, and communities.

Now creating from the present, Cross’ work celebrates the ongoing queer revolution. His containers hold both mourning and possibility, becoming vessels for loss, action, desire, and community while making space for the future.
