Owen Tooke’s artistic practice serves as an exploratory stage for engaging with image and object ecologies. Using photo, video, sound, sculpture, painting and installation, their work examines human relationships with natural and manufactured worlds, de-beautification and re-beautification, and senses of belonging – cosmically as well as culturally. Tooke navigates the complexities and contradictions of contemporary society, interrogating how humanity’s interactions with the environment have shifted our perception and understanding of the world around us. Their work reflects and comments on the consequences of the commodification of places, cultures, and experiences upon our collective consciousness.
